Barbecue Party game – Rules
The pack contains a selection of food to ‘grill’. The aim of the game is to get 3 pieces off the barbecue when you match it with a card from the pack.
There is a pair of each food item and a matching card. Once the grill has been turned on, the cards are in one pile and each player (youngest goes first) takes a card from the pack.
Whatever picture you get on the card you have to pick up that piece with the tongs and place it on the barbecue to ‘cook’. If you choose a picture card and the piece is already on the barbecue you then take that piece off and place it on your card. To win the game you need to take 3 pieces of food off the barbecue and place it on your card.
Sounds simple doesn’t it? Well, there is one point I haven’t mentioned. You have to be really careful placing the pieces of food on the barbecue and taking it off the barbecue. If you are too
heavy handed putting on or taking off, the barbecue will jump and you will lose your turn and have to start from scratch. Not good news if you have managed to collect cards with food pieces on them!
As usual with the Drummond lot, they’ve come up with another fun filled game. We have played this loads. It is very easy to understand and the smaller children pick it up very quickly.
You do have to remember to make sure you switch the button on so that the barbecue works and you know it will pop up. Sometimes we have been playing it for a while and then wondered why it hadn’t popped up, and it was because we hadn’t switched it on. Maybe, the makers could think about putting a sizzling sound so that we can tell it’s actually on.
As mentioned, we have played this a lot, even outside. The actual barbecue is sturdy enough to play outside and inside. The pieces of food are easy to pick up with the tongs, but there are a few which are a little fiddly (younger ones seemed to cope well with them but us adults struggled….maybe they were just better than us!).
Barbecue Party is a game for 2 – 4 players, for ages 4+ and RRP’s at £19.99. It’s great fun for all the family and well worth it.
