The Lion Guard – new toy range review

Lion Guard

The Lion Guard is a popular cartoon series on Disney Junior  which is based around Kion (who is the son of Simba, the lion from the initial Lion King movie). Kion is the prince of the Pride Lands and is the leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals who protect the Pride Lands and defend the Circle of Life.

The Lion Guard is shown on . Kion is joined by his friends, Bunga (the honey badger), Beshte (the hippopotamus), Fuli (the cheetah) and Ono (the egret). They work together to fight of their problems from their enemies Janja (the hyena clan).

The popular series has now been joined by the fabulous range of toys which went on sale on 2nd July:

This 5 – pack set of figures contains the central characters; Kion, Bunga, Beshte, Fuli and Ono. RRP £12.99.

This is great for fans of the show, as all the characters are in here and look exactly like the characters on screen.

This fun little toppling wall can be combined with four different characters. Our wall came with Kion. The children loved to use the other animals and topple the wall. RRP £9.99

Mini Figures    Mini figuresFor little pocket money treats or party bag fillers there are the ever popular collectible Mini Figures. RRP £2.49. There is even a limited edition figurine which children can hunt – will you be lucky in your bag?

These figures are really well made, affordable and I think will stand the test of time with my adventurous children. Their play can get quite enthusiastic, taking the toys out on the trampoline and throwing them about.  These toys didn’t get a mark on them. I did have to remove the hippopotamus from the range whilst they were playing rough as that is quite hard and very heavy. Heavier than I would have liked, generally.

As mentioned, the toys are great for general play and the children loved to re-enact some of the episodes using the figures.

If you haven’t seen the show, catch it on Disney Junior and have a look for the toy range. They are available and my kids were really happy to have had a sneek preview of the toy range.
