Scooby-Doo is a firm favourite in our house and this is not just because the children love it, but I love it too. It reminds me of innocent times, watching it at home after school with a packet of crisps and singing along to the theme music. I feel like a big kid again when I watch it, whether that is the original version or the newer version.
So, when we were asked to go to The London Palladium and watch Scooby-Doo Live Musical Mysteries we jumped at the chance! Scooby Doo live on stage as well as being at the famous London Palladium.
Scooby-Doo Live Musical Mysteries is on for just 4 days; 18th Aug – 21st Aug.
The show is aimed at children of all ages. We went along with children ranging from 4 – 10 years old and they all got involved and were shouting when the ghost appeared on stage each time to warn the gang. It was lovely watching them all get so excited and enthralled.
As with all Scooby-Doo episodes the gang (Shaggy, Scooby, Velma, Fred and Daphne) try to solve the mystery of a ghost haunting a local theatre. I won’t spoil your enjoyment and tell you who the ‘bad’ person was. I’ll leave you to find that out. But, there are lots of clues to help you and the gang solve the mystery.
The London Palladium is a world renowned venue and is known for staging some of the world’s most famous plays and showcasing extremely talented actors and performers. Shows at The London Palladium have a real air of quality to them. Scooby Doo Live fits comfortably in this description too.
The show was beautifully put together. The actors were spot on, visually and vocally. Their voices were exactly like the popular cartoons and their singing voices were really strong. My favourite character was Daphne, her perseverance with Fred was very funny. They had all their character actions and phrases spot on! Velma was also very funny. I had also totally forgotten that all of the characters had surnames too! Good job they introduced themselves at the beginning!
The script was engaging for children and adults, it kept both groups entertained. There were also parts which only the adults would laugh at, which was great fun. The whole performance was lots of fun and the songs were really good. Captivating and not quite as ‘stuffy’ as the usual theatrical numbers. So children of all ages understood and enjoyed the music.
As this is on for only a few days, I would really recommend getting your tickets asap. It’s a show which will be a great memory for the children. My children were talking about it non-stop all the way home on the train!
The show is only on for 4 days, so get your tickets quickly!
