Articulate for Kids review and giveaway

Articulate for Kids

If you haven’t played it, you have probably heard of the popular game Articulate! I haven’t played it yet, but I have heard the hilarious stories from friends and families who have! So, when I was invited to review Articulate for Kids, we just couldn’t wait.

Articulate for Kids is aimed for 6-12 year olds and for 4-20 players and the aim of the game is to use your imagination, creativity and communication skills to accurately describe words from particular topics within a set time limit. The topics are:

  • Object
  • Nature
  • Person
  • Action
  • World
  • Random

There are over 300 different cards which means there are plenty to go around. Even when you have larger teams.

ARTICULATE FOR KIDS – GAMEPLAY

At each round, each team divides themselves into “Describers” and “Guessers“. The timer starts and the Describer has to describe as many of the words on their topic as possible to their Guessers before the timer runs out. There are 30 seconds to describe as many different words as possible, and you’ll be amazed at how quickly 30 seconds go by, but also at how many you can get right (and how many you can’t too!)

Depending on how many correct answers the Guessers make, the team then move their token along the board that many corresponding moves. The first to team to reach the Finish place wins the game.

Just remember that when you are doing your descriptions, there are a few rules to abide by. The Description Rules are included in the instruction booklet but they include rules where you can’t use “sounds like” or “begins with”. If you do accidentally use them, then you have to take another card and describe that one instead.

This game really makes you think outside of the box and gets your mind on a rollercoaster ride. You have to get your mind and your mouth to think and speak at the same speed so that you can get through the most amount of cards as possible. It’s hilarious when other players are trying to explain something but they aren’t quite there and their teams mates are making lots of guesses and you are sniggering in the corner because you know the answer! It’s all about the winning!

The game is aimed for 6-12 year olds and it’s RRP is £19.99. My youngest is 5 and he loves to play it. It really encourages his quick thinking and descriptive skills. There are some words which he may not know, so we just skip those cards (we do the same for my 7 year old too).  It’s just as much to play this in a big group as it is with 4 people – we still had the same amount of laughs!

This is thoroughly enjoyable game. Adults get through it quicker than children, but it is fun for everyone. For adult only play, try Articulate. I’m sure there will be just as much laughter and giggles with that version.
