Healthy snacks with Good4U

School has started for many of us now and it’s back to putting together healthy lunch boxes for our children.  I’ve always been a stickler for healthy lunch boxes (I’ve seen first hand, how bad some lunch boxes have been for school children and it horrifies me!). So, when Good4U asked me to try some of their new healthy snacks range, SuperBites, how could I resist – being healthy and happy is so important for myself and my children.

My children’s lunchboxes are made up of either a flask of hot food (home made left over food), or a sandwich, a piece of fruit and a box of raisins. Now that my son has finished his compulsory free school meals, he has asked for his packed lunches to contain something ‘extra’.

I am determined not to put chocolate or crisps in his lunch box. I thought of things on the lines of fruit bars, or a bran muffin etc. Relatively good food which isn;t packed full of sugar.

It’s quite hard to find things which are ready made and which aren’t full of sugar, salt or additives. I always read the packets of things to make sure there aren’t too many nasties in there but which also tasted good.

We were excited to receive the new lunchbox sized treat bags from Good4U and the boys were eager to tear into them and try them.  Immediate thumbs up from them. We received the Cocoa and Banana Superbites and the Strawberry and Vanilla Superbites.

I had a read of the ingredients and I can be pleased to say there are absolutely NO nasty bits whatsoever. These are 100% healthy treats and a great end to a good lunch.

The packets are perfect sizes for little hands, but also enough for an adult to enjoy and beat that craving. The packets are lunchbox friendly, handbag friendly and pocket friendly!

The Cocoa and Banana Superbites were the favourite and the boys said they tasted like chocolate milkshake! The bites inside the packet are small round brown bites, which are made up of dates, seeds, raisins and fruit. Superbites are:

  • 50% less sugar and 50% more fibre than competing brands
  • contain energy boosting chia and sunflower seeds
  • all natural ingredients
  • no added sugar
  • Gluten free
  • High in Fibre
  • Good source of calcium

Good4U are makers of nutritious, healthy snacks. The company was created by the Butler family who have spent a decade creating and perfecting their ranges.  These SuperBites are aimed at children but there are other Super Bites  (and other ranges) aimed for slightly more ‘grown up’ taste buds!

My overall opinion on these are that they taste really good (no funny after taste). They are great for lunch boxes, and my kids could open them easily. These packet snacks do not make me feel guilty giving them to children (or adults!).

The Good4U ranges are available at  Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
