Despicable Me 3 Labyrinth

Despicable Me 3 Labyrinth

Despicable Me 3 came out recently and to take a little part of the magic of the film home with us we were asked to review the Despicable Me 3 Labyrinth board game by Ravensburger.

We are already big fans of the original Labyrinth game and you can read our review of that here. So, when we received the new Despicable Me 3 Labyrinth game, we knew exactly what to do and how to play it.

Despicable Me 3

Despicable Me 3 still focuses on Gru and his family (Margo, Edith, Agnes and Lucy). Gru finds his long lost twin brother and after going into ‘retirement’ finds he needs to take down a dancing supervilian, Balthazar Bratt, who is a former 1980s child star seeking revenge against the world.

The game stays true to the original format, there are just a host of new characters in this version all relating to the Despicable Me 3 film.

If you want to know the rules to this, it’s pretty straight forward and are in the link to my review on the original version.

This version, is colourful and exciting and relatable to the children, as they are all aware of the various Despicable Me 3 characters.

The game comes with 4 playing pieces, character cards and tiles. The tiles need to be popped out of their holders and placed on the board. These are the tiles which need to pushed to create your path to get to your characters.

If you have a child who is Despicable Me crazy (and most children are!). I would probably even go as far as saying there are a lot of adults who are Despicable Me crazy! This game is perfect for everyone. It is a great strategy game, the characters make the game more enjoyable and it also makes you think laterally. There are lots of options to figure out before moving your piece, so be careful. Sometimes it’s best to sit and think about your move a little before you actually make it!

The game says it is for all ages from 8 years. But my 5 year old son loves this game (and the original version) and, invariably, he beats all of us! He must be a child genius 🙂

This has been one of our top 5 games of the summer. We highly recommend it and it will be one which you keep for quite some time. It will not go out ‘fashion’!.  You can get this online and from most good toy stockists.
